General

Do we get exclusive use of the site?

No.  We take bookings for the main station, Ranger Cabin and camping separately so there could potentially be more than one group on site at once.  Each group has access to separate toilet/wetroom facilities.  

 

Do you allow dogs on site?

Dogs are not permitted on site unless they are assistance dogs.

If you have an assistance dog staying for the duration of your visit, please let us know in advance.

 

Can I bring my family to camp?

No, we are not open for public camping.

  

How can my child join Scouts/Guides?

Information on joining Scouts is available at www.scouts.org.uk/groups and Guides is available at www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-your-daughter. Follow the instructions to find your local group.

  

How do I make a booking?

Provisional bookings can be made either by email, over the phone or online. The bookings team are based in Hertfordshire and available Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm.

 

How do I confirm my booking?

Provisional booking information will be sent by email. Please click the link to complete the e-sign booking form to confirm your booking.

 

When is our final payment due?

The final payment for a booking must be made 14 days before the booking commences. For more information, please see our terms and conditions.

Is there security onsite?

For your security, we have CCTV throughout the site and a duty manager available.  Please close the barrier if you are going offsite.

Do you have first aid equipment?

First aid equipment is not supplied. It is the responsibility of each group to make appropriate provisions for this.

Are drones allowed on site?

No drones of any sort are allowed on site. If you have a specific reason why you need one, please contact the Manager to request permission.

 

Are fireworks allowed on site? 

No fireworks are allowed.

 

What is your policy on smoking and drinking?

Lochearnhead Scout Station supports the right to smoke free Scouting. Whilst we understand people have the right to smoke, we recognise people have a choice. We also acknowledge that non-smokers have right and choices. All buildings are smoke-free zones and people should be actively discouraged from smoking around young people. Please see the Smoke-Free Scouting Guidance on www.scouts.org.uk for more information.

 

Anyone who is responsible for young people must refrain from consuming alcohol. Please see our terms and conditions and Scouting and Alcohol in the Safeguarding section of guidance on www.scouts.org.uk for more information.

I have lost an item on site - how can I let you know and try to get the item back?

How do I find Lochearnhead Scout Station Activity Centre?

A ‘How to Find Us’ guide is available from our website, please circulate to all those you need to direct to Lochearnhead Scout Station. 

 

What happens if we are arriving by coach?

Please let us know in advance if you are planning to travel to us by coach and let us know on your Guest Information form. To ensure your arrival goes smoothly, please familiarise yourself with our ‘How to Find Us’ guide and ensure this is passed onto your driver. 

 

What happens upon arrival at Lochearnhead Scout Station?

You will be sent access information in advance of your stay, please read this carefully on how to access the station.  Please note the site is unmanned so you will need to follow the instructions to access the station. 

 

If you have any issues with your campsite or building when you arrive, please notify our experience manager immediately so that we are able to address the matter.

 

Is there parking on site?

The car park is available for station users only and holds up to 50 cars.

Are the cabins heated?

Yes, the heating is controlled by an intelligent heating control system, which allows us to remotely bring the temperature up in preparation for your arrival and lower it upon your departure.

 

How many beds are there?

The main station cabins sleep 52.  The Ranger Cabin sleeps an additional 10 people and is available to book separately.

 

Is there Wifi?

Free Wifi is available throughout the Station Buildings, subject to agreement to our terms of usage. Leaders will be provided with passwords that allow 24 hour or 12 hour access at their discretion.

What can I buy onsite? 

Souvenirs are only available if pre ordered from our Online Shop but these must be ordered well in advance of your stay (ideally at least a week in advance of your arrival).  Orders will then be prepared and left ready for you to collect on arrival.  Alternatively, you can order from our online shop and pay for them to be posted to you.

Are we allowed to have open fires on site?

There is a fire circle available, the location is marked on the site map (note it has moved from where it used to be).  There is very limited wood for burning onsite.

 

You are welcome to bring your own barbecue as we do not have any for hire. If you are planning to bring disposable barbecues, please make sure that they are lifted off the ground when lit.

 

Does the Ranger Cabin have a kitchen?

No, it does not, you will need to bring your own camping stove to use outdoors.

 

Do you have washing up sinks for campers or the Ranger Cabin users?

No.

 

Is the water at Lochearnhead Scout Station suitable for drinking?

There is tap with drinking water for campers and Ranger Cabin users. Please encourage your group to respect the area around the tap and not to leave it running. 

  

What should we do with waste?

All rubbish should be taken to the bins.  There is one bin for general waste and one for mixed recycling.  Traditional wet pits should not be used. Draining can be done above ground in the rough part of your campsite.

Is bedding provided in the cabins?

We do not supply bedding, you need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.

What extra equipment should I bring/will I need?

If you have booked the main station, sharp knives, chopping boards and matches (to light the gas hobs) are not supplied.  Toilet rolls are supplied.

 

Is there somewhere to charge mobile phones whilst onsite?

There is no facility for campers who have not hired a building.

Where are the nearest supermarkets and food shops and can I get a delivery?

There are no shops of any kind in Lochearnhead village.  There is a Coop in Killin (7.6 miles, Lyon Rd, Killin FK21 8UJ) and both a Tesco Express and Coop in Calander (14 miles).  If you order a food delivery, it is essential it is booked for well after you are due to arrive as the site is unmanned so there is no-one who can accept the delivery on your behalf. 

 

Do you have laundry facilities?

The main station has a washing machine and tumble dryer.

 

Do you offer a catering service?

No

 

We have a person attending with additional needs. What suitable facilities do you have?

Accessible wetrooms/toilets are available with coded access.  Site visits for familiarisation for suitability are available on request - please contact us by email or phone to discuss.  Assistance dogs are welcome on site.

What do we do when we are ready to depart?

Please ensure that you have checked your site/building for litter, and rubbish has been taken to the bins. If you are using a building, please scan the QR code displayed in the building to check out.
